If you do not have the cash to pay for the impulse buying, you did not need it anyway. Just paying the minimum on those cards will not cut it. Work on one card at a time; pay larger sums on one and the minimum on others, eventually cutting them down one at a time.

Be a creator. Create a debt-free plan. Decide what you can eliminate, use a budget. Stop living from paycheck to paycheck. It is difficult in the beginning but giving up those lunches from the carry-outs or the big cups of coffee from the corner diner can save you more that you realize. Start being a penny pincher pack lunches, walk to the store two blocks away, instead of going to an expensive movie rent a movie. Spend time with the family instead of dropping the kids off at the mall to spend money that you do not have.

Make that commitment to get those credit cards out of the way and paid off. This may surprise you, but do not close those accounts. It will show better on your credit if you still have them but have them for emergencies only.

Eventually, the money will be longer than the month and you can have the extra things that you can afford and enjoy spending the money that you now have.
