Step By Step Guide For Your Goji Business.
Starting a goji business is a daunting task, especially if you've never owned a business before. Working from 9-5 versus owning your own business has lots of differences. Although being self-employed is very freeing & you have a flexible schedule, you have to be careful not to let your business control your life. Setting business hours for yourself is a good idea.
Location of your Goji Business :
You've heard the saying that the most important thing in business is: Location, Location, Location. If you are going to have a store front, you bet it is! However, most goji businesses are conducted online via search engine marketing (SEM) and location isn't really important. Some people work from their living room or basement and others sit on their front porches in Hawaii; it's just personal preference.
Set up your office space in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed. I like to listen to music while working, so the living room isn't the best place for me. You'll want a computer and accessories, and basic office supplies like envelopes, pens, paper, scissors, tape, stamps, address labels, etc. Although you don't have to have a printer, it is a good idea--some clients will want printed information.
Advertising & Marketing Supplies :
About 90% of your marketing will be internet based, so you won't need much in your physical office. You will want business cards and magnets to sent to clients when they order for the first time. You can get both of these online at VistaPrint.
Setting up your Website :
If you've never built a website before, I'm sure this seems a daunting task; I would suggest you hire a company like RYP Marketing to do your website design and possibly some (or all) of your internet marketing. If you choose not to hire a company, usually you can join a goji business team who has expertise in this area & is willing to teach you. I do all my own marketing and website design; it does take a little time to learn, but isn't really hard.
For your website's host, HostGator is a good choice; you can buy your domain from GoDaddy. I have my goji business website powered by WordPress; you don't have to know HTML to build or edit it. Building a website using WordPress is just as simple as blogging; it's a breeze.
What Product will your Goji Business Sell ?
Choosing which brand of goji juice you'll be selling is a rather daunting experience. There are quite a few goji business companies, so I'd suggest you research the companies' reliability and ratings on the Better Business Bureau. Also research the goji juice itself; lots of companies provide research on the goji BERRY, but note that goji berries have different health benefits than goji JUICE.
Being an independent rep for a company is usually easier than private labeling. Usually an independent rep never has to handle the shipping of the product or the billing aspect. This saves you a lot of time and lets you focus on other aspects of your goji business. This gives you more time for marketing and customer relations, two of the most important parts of your goji business.
