Marketing Versus Sales.
Those who are unfamiliar with The Art and Science of The Business of Marketing very often make the common mistake that Marketing and Sales are one in the same. That is a myth.
In a Sales situation, one is trying to create a need for what they're is offering. In addition, sales is about convincing some one to do exactly what it is you want the person to do. If this person has no or little interest, it is in most cases virtually impossible to convince them otherwise.
Marketing is a whole other ballgame. No one is trying to convince anyone of anything here. On the contrary, in fact, the main focus of the marketer is to fulfill an existing need.
The advantages of being a Marketer, is not having to twist someone's, so to speak, arm to get them to do what it is you want them to do. There are designed systems in this business to actually get a person to seek you out to fulfill their need or desire.
The Sales aspect has a slight disadvantage. It is more difficult to try to change a person's mind or try to tell them they need what you have. In general, marketing is much easier and the benefits of not having to change someone's mind or to convince someone of something is less frustrating.
One may think of it in these terms... would you want to try to change someone's mind or would you choose to talk to someone who is already on your side?

That does clear up a few things for me about marketing and sales. I now realize that I'd definitely rather be a marketer.
