Work At Home - Ever Consider Becoming A Call Agent ?

A work at home opportunity which has gained some popularity in the marketplace over the past five years has been the telephone answering service. With this newfound fame, more people are looking to occupy this industry. This has been made evident by the increased volume of search engine queries for key terms such as, "answer calls from home", "work at home telephone", "call agent", "work at home call center", etc.

There are several telephone answering programs on the internet. I saw one such program claiming that they have six-hundred openings. Many of these home-based call center services are looking for people who are pleasant, have a professional phone presence, are not easily distracted while working at home, have strong computer navigation skills, etc. Furthermore, most home-based call centers require that you have at least one previous year of customer care, and prefer if you have previous phone support experience. One thing which I found interesting, but not surprising, is that there seems to be a high demand for individuals who speak two or more languages.

If you are concerned about your verbal skills, please note that a lack of strong verbal communication skills will not rule you out from becoming a call center specialist. The fact of the matter is that more and more businesses are choosing online chat as a customer support mechanism. Often times you will see smaller, start-up companies going this route. However, I have seen many larger companies also taking this route, as an ancillary means of communication with their customers. Providing such an additional option not only gives the customers more choices, but also cuts back on wait times for the customer.

Nonetheless, before accepting a position with a work at home call center, make sure that you know all details up front. You should be clear on how you will be compensated, which hours of the day you will be expected to work, what technical equipment you will need, whether or not you will have to purchase such equipment with your own money, the duration of your position, your expected call or chat volume, etc. Also make sure that everything which you have stipulated to is in writing, so that you have legal recourse should the issue arise.

In summary, I do believe that work at home call centers are a viable way to earn a primary or secondary income on the internet. While you will need to do your research, choose the top program which matches your skill set and income goals.

You do not always have to Make Money Online to Work At Home. Call centers provide a viable option.
